Blue Coat has decided to acquire cloud security vendor Elastica for $280M. Blue Coat plans to integrate Elastica’s cloud security technology with its web security products under the rubric of the Blue Coat Security Platform. By acquiring Elastica, Blue Coat stands to benefit from he Elastica CloudSOC platform’s threat intelligence, machine learning, data loss protection, user behavior analytics and functionality for identifying and remediating shadow IT within an infrastructure. The acquisition continues to underscore the vitality of market interest in cloud security as evinced by Microsoft’s acquisition of Adallom in September for $320M. The deal comes head on the heels of Elastica’s announcement of its product integration between its CloudSOC platform and Cisco’s Cloud Web Security (CWS).
