EnterpriseDB Announces Postgres Plus Cloud Database Support For Amazon Web Services Virtual Private Cloud

EnterpriseDB, a leader in enterprise grade PostgreSQL solutions, today announced that its Postgres Plus Cloud Database now supports the Amazon Web Services Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). The resulting integration with the Amazon Web Services VPC means that enterprises can integrate non-PostgreSQL workloads with its Postgres Plus Cloud Database deployment or otherwise benefit from the limitless scalability enabled by access to the Amazon Web Services infrastructure.

PostgreSQL is an ACID-compliant, open source object relational database that supports all major operating systems including Linux, Unix and Windows. In an interview with Cloud Computing Today, EnterpriseDB’s Senior VP of Products Marc Linster noted that one of the popular use cases for Postgres Plus Cloud Database consists of its use as a replacement for Oracle products given the cost savings enabled by the use of EnterpriseDB’s PostgreSQL products. EnterpriseDB’s Postgres Plus Cloud Database supports cloud-based deployments of PostgreSQL as illustrated below:

Postgres Plus Cloud Database features a community edition as well as Postgres Plus Advanced Server, the latter of which boasts an array of enterprise-grade security and performance management features. The integration of Postgres Plus Cloud Database with AWS VPC paves the way for EnterpriseDB customers to create more complex development and production environments that leverage the public-facing subnet functionality of AWS VPC, in addition to private facing subnets with increasingly sophisticated levels of security and role-based access protocols. Customers can also link their VPC deployment to other clouds and thereby begin creating hybrid clouds environments that integrate with their Postgres Plus Cloud Database deployments. Today’s announcement continues to consolidate EnterpriseDB’s positioning as one of the premier vendors of enterprise-grade, Oracle-compatible PostgreSQL distributions for both on premise and cloud-based deployments.
