JAMF Software Updates Casper Suite Apple Device Management Platform For Apple OS X Mavericks

JAMF Software recently announced the latest release of Casper Suite, its Apple device management platform, featuring support for Apple OS X Mavericks. Casper Suite represents one of the few management platforms developed exclusively for Apple products and boasts functionality that includes “mobile device management, settings management, software distribution, imaging, inventory, package building, image management, remote updates and a powerful framework for automated support,” according to a recent press release. Casper Suite delivers management support for Apple’s FileVault 2 Disk Encryption technology, tools for upgrading to the latest OS release as well as enhanced security and corporate integration functionality.

Given the recent proliferation of Apple devices into enterprise computing, the Casper Suite management console is uniquely positioned to consolidate its market share in the Apple device management space. After years of banishment from the ranks of enterprise computing, Apple has made a steady advance into the world of enterprise computing courtesy of the iPad and iPhone and Steve Jobs’s proposition of an ecosystem of synchronized computing devices that collectively leverage the iCloud. In an interview with Cloud Computing Today, JAMF remarked that several of its customers are actively considering wholesale transitions to Apple OS-based computing devices and thereby transitioning away from Windows-based platforms entirely. The larger point here is that enterprise usage of Apple devices has skyrocketed over the last five years, and as such, the market opportunity for Apple device management platforms such as Caper Suite is both promising and set to continue expanding. Expect more Apple device management vendors to proliferate as the market for Apple device management platforms expands and matures.
